Introduction

The 2010 Red Power Roundup was looking touch and go up to the first day of the show. Heavy rain and winds led to widespread electrical outages and a wet show grounds. Luckily beautiful weather prevailed for the show with hot and sunny conditions for the duration. Hosted by the Northern Indiana Chapter 33 and held at the LaPorte Fairgrounds it was one heck of a show. Featuring 260 vendors and countless tractors, lawnmowers, equipment, hit and miss engines, power units, trucks, Scouts and a beautiful collection of auto wagons or high wheelers the show put a smile on the faces of thousands of Red enthusiasts. On Friday at 10:00 o’clock a.m. the auction started. The number of items for sale and the crowd were both quite large.

My photos do not do the show justice. I did make sure to document some of the more unusual tractors, including a Super A converted to a fire truck by GM, an International M-R-S special used by the military and a custom built tree farm tractor built out of a Super A and Super C.

Steiner Tractor Parts sponsored IHC pennants which were distributed gratis to the public.

On a down note the IH community lost an important member Friday before the show. Dale Smith from OEM tractor was killed unloading a trailer. Dale will be sorely missed by many including myself. He was very knowledgeable and his enthusiasm and creativity made him instrumental in developing many obsolete components for collectors. The IH Chapter building featured a memorial honoring Dale for his contributions to the IH community.

The 2011 show will be help in Alberta Lea, Minnesota. The dates are June 23, 24 and 25th. The show is hosted by the Chapter #15 club.
